Fix laptop fan not spinning

Hi guys. When the laptop boots up for about 15 minutes, it automatically shuts down, the laptop fan does not rotate (you can put your ear near the cooling fan to listen). Those are diseases related to the laptop fan (FAN).

Laptop fan not spinning due to 2 main reasons:

– Cause 1: Because the fan itself is damaged, it may be due to the burning of the copper coil at the stator core, or the fan’s FAN (rotor shaft) shaft is dry, causing it to lock up cannot rotate.

– The second cause: It is due to a faulty temperature sensor circuit.

To fix the laptop fan not spinning, you need to determine if the machine is having a fan error or the sensor ic is overheated.

1. Laptop fan

You remove the fan, use your hand to rotate the propeller to see if it rotates. Pay attention to rotate slightly lest the FAN laptop break its wings.

If the fan spins hard, then you proceed to clean, spray RP7 to break rust and oil and then try again.
If the fan rotates normally, you can test it with a VOM analog meter. Normally, there are 3 wires on the fan: 1 red thread receives 5V power, the black fiber is the mass pin, the yellow thread is used to control the speed (When the CPU, VGA chip is not hot, the fan turns off or rotates slightly, when CPU, VGA chip is hot, the fan rotates strongly). You use an analog meter to adjust to the X1 ohm scale, the red rod plugs into the black wire (the fan’s mass wire) the black rod plugs into the red wire (5V wire). If the fan rotates, it proves that the fan is still working well, the only reason left is the machine has a faulty thermal sensor IC.

2. Thermal sensor IC

Identify the thermal sensor IC on the laptop: Usually an 8-pin ic located near the CPU socket or fan jack. There is also a thermal sensor ic located on the other side of the CPU, located near the CPU or fan jack.

Pins 5, 6, 7, 8 are usually connected to ground. Pins 1 and 2 have 5V when opening the machine, you can replace another ic to check. Or if you don’t have an ic instead, then proceed to fishing by the following way.

On the wire connected to the fan jack, you proceed to cut the red 5v wire and the yellow fan speed control wire, leaving only the black mass wire. Then we use a wire to connect the red wire of the fan to the 5V USB source. Then the fan only uses the ground wire and the USB 5v red wire, it will rotate continuously and will not turn off or rotate slower (because the sensor ic is not used anymore).

To find the 5V USB source, you can turn on the device, the black stick to mass, the red stick near the usb jack to find the 5v source. This way I have done a lot on laptops, so please feel free to try it. Wish success.
