Can I wash the motherboard with water? I was shocked just hearing the title, but this is really 100% literally. The mainboard is too dirty, rusty and especially the classic disease that is flickering, sometimes the machine is up to normal, sometimes it runs for a while to shut down… These causes need to be washed with water just wash the dishes.
Uses: To clean the mainboard, treat rust for the mainboard, many mainboards are rusted, leading to the main flickering.
Preparation: Sunlight dishwashing liquid + PS toothbrush (with PS no more worrying about tooth decay :D)
Implementation: Main board being washed is Asus P5K – VM, this main uses G33 chipset, there is a flickering phenomenon. You remove the CMOS battery (avoid touching the main short), remove the cpu, remove the heatsink for the south chip and the north chip. Then put the water in to fit the mainboard and put the dishwashing liquid in, put a lot in, I put in a little bit because I have a wife at home (every day washes too much dishwashing liquid). You proceed to rub ram slots, pci express slot, pci slot. Scrub the legs of large chips such as IO, sound chip, ic clock, source ic, scrub it clean.
Note: When cleaning the main, you should be careful to avoid scrubbing too hard to lose capacitors, resistors and bend the cpu socket. After scrubbing, use a hose to clean it, spray on the south and north chips to drain all the dishwashing liquid.
After cleaning, hold the mainboard fan back and forth to let the water drop out and then proceed to dry the main. Drying the main can be: take it out to dry in the sun, use a hair dryer to dry, or use a torch, infrared light to dry depending on what tools you have.
Important: Make sure the main is 100% dry before you try it on or you’ll be the main one. Because many times when I look at the outside, I feel dry, but using my hand to stroke the ram and pci slots, there is still water. Or hold the main one hard, the water in the stomach of the male chip, the north chip and the cpu socket still flows out. So you need to be careful with this.
Washing the main itself with dishwashing liquid does not affect anything, but sometimes because it is not dry, it will short the main, or when scrubbing too hard, it will lose the capacitor or the resistor becomes new. I wash the main very often and never finished washing the main but it didn’t come up. And the mainboard after washing has run stably, no longer flickering.
